JOB DESCRIPTION
My client, a well-established architectural joinery company, is seeking a Junior Estimator to join their team based in Portlaoise, Co. Laois
Position Overview:
The Junior Estimator will be responsible for pricing tenders, ensuring accurate cost estimates, and liaising with clients and contractors throughout the tendering process. This role suits an experienced estimator or a skilled cabinet maker looking to transition into management within the joinery sector.
Based at the company’s headquarters in Portlaoise, this full-time, Monday to Friday role offers a competitive salary starting at €40,000 DOE.
The successful candidate will receive full training in estimation software and participate in the Lean Transformation Programme, gaining structured professional development and one-on-one training with external consultants. This is an excellent opportunity for career progression into senior estimating, project management, or leadership roles within a well-established architectural joinery company.
This is a permanent role, which will involve working for my client directly on a permanent basis, this is not an agency or short term role. I am assisting my client in finding suitable candidates to work for them directly.
Responsibilities:
• Reviewing and evaluating incoming tenders to ensure accurate pricing.
• Inputting tender details into the company’s estimating system.
• Preparing precise cost estimates for materials and labor.
• Liaising with clients and contractors to ensure all tender submissions meet requirements.
• Sourcing specialist suppliers and materials as needed.
• Maintaining clear and accurate documentation of estimates.
• Assisting project managers with cost adjustments and additional works as required.
Requirements:
• 3+ years’ experience in estimating, cabinet making, or a related field is required
• Strong numerical and analytical skills with attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook) and the ability to learn estimation software (training provided).
• Excellent communication skills for liaising with suppliers, contractors, and internal teams.
• Ability to work efficiently within deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
• A proactive and problem-solving approach to tasks.
